“ I finally got to try this west coast location for lunch and I am glad to see it is as authentic as the Chicago location. Although I was not able to do pizza this visit because the cravings were for Chicago Italian Beef "Sanqwich". But I will return with more mouths to feed and enjoy one of the many pizzas Gino's East offers. Nevertheless the Beef Sandwich and the Combo Beef and Sausage Sandwich were incredible, plenty of meat and served "wet" with sweet peppers and giardiniera all piled into a soft crusty roll. Just like it was served in Chicago. We opted for the Pub Chips and were so surprised how good they were, freshly made and sprinkled with their house goodness. We also tried the Chicago Hot Dog and it did not disappoint, just like the home town version with all the fixings. Washed it all down with Goose Island IPA's. Our server Michael was helpful and spread dishes out so we would enjoy them hot from the kitchen. Well done Gino's East you have got my vote for Chicago Cuisine with ambiance and plenty of Chi Town trivia as well as a new regular, I will be back and will bring friends and family to enjoy the cuisine. “ So rare that I would find myself on this side of the LA county tracks, but! Met some girlfriends for lunch even further north, and with that info in Hubbers' head, he asked if I could stop by this spot to get some goodies. It was on the way home and when he mentioned "Italian beef sandwich," it was a no brainer. Came through on a late afternoon Sunday. I noticed that most of their tables were occupied, so they're popular, eh? I was greeted immediately and just as quickly, I informed the host I was ordering to go: Italian beef sausage sandwich with giardiniera (for Hubbers) and Italian combos sandwich with giardiniera (for me). Both came with sides of either fries or pub chips so I got both. (Salad was also an option, but hard pass on that.) I also asked for the au jus on the side for both. (I had about an hour drive to do and didn't want those sammiches soggy!) It didn't take long considering they were made to order. And I didn't mind waiting since it gave me the chance to look around. It's not that big of a place, but it might be a good one to hangout at the bar and watch sports! (I'm sure they get busy during peak seasons!) Food was still slightly warm by the time I got home. Hubbers practically snarfed his, so that tells me how amazing it was. I waited a bit longer to have mine, and I understand: it was delicious! The beef was packed with savory flavors, ditto the sausage except it had different seasonings, and dipping each bite to the au jus made it even better. The giardiniera was slightly spicy for my taste but didn't really take away from the overall taste. (NOTE TO SELF: sweet peppers next time - and yes, there will be a next time.) The fries were great, but the pub chips were out of this world! They were also generous with the sides! FOOD: 5. SERVICE: 4. As busy as they were, they didn't fail to acknowledge my presence. Very friendly staff. VALUE: 5. You get a lot more than what you pay for. PARKING: There are spaces behind them, but can get full. Street parking mostly. Plan accordingly. OVERALL: 4.5 SIDE NOTE: I wondered how he knew about this place. He mentioned he has been to a Chicago location and learned about a location in SoCal. He only remembered when he learned I was driving through. TIPS: 1) If ordering a sandwich to go (like yours truly) and you have a long drive, have the au jus on the side. I overheard the staff telling a customer to do exactly this when customer mentioned he had a 40 mile drive. 2) If ordering a deep dish, it's about a 25 minute wait. I have Hubbers to thank for this discovery. There will be stops here for every rare occasion I find myself in the area. ”

“ Best Chicago pizza in LA. No one else compares, not even Masa in Echo Park. That said, they are stingy on the toppings. Still giving them 4 Stars. But if I want to have at least a piece of meat in every bite, then I have to get extra (or double) the meat. Which is NOT the case for most great pizza places in Chicago. Heck, even Lou Malnati's frozen-shipped pizzas will have sausage in every bite on their Sausage Pizzas. I doubt either of the 2 owners read these reviews, but if they do, they should take this to heart and remedy this. For a $29 deep dish personal size pizza (the "Supreme") that only has maybe $1.50 - $2 worth of sausage on it, a smattering of tiny chopped bell pepper pieces, and almost no mushrooms, it's just really, really skimpy. Not counting labor and restaurant overhead, the food costs in a Supreme (personal size) are not more than $4 or $5, tops. For $29, I really expect the toppings to be generous. And they have the same issue with their thin crust pizzas as well. Wish they would remedy this. ”

“ So my buddies and I went out to celebrate. I thought it would be great idea to try Gino's East of Sherman Oaks, as I enjoyed my first time at Gino's East in Chicago so much. I wanted to share the crust of their deep dish pizza as it is so much more than just normal pizza dough. It is crispy with an almost biscuit flavor. We decided on the Meaty Legend and the Gino's Western. Now don't get me wrong, I can appreciate a thin crust when I feel like that thin crispy pizza dough, but I did enjoy these two pizza pies. To make things even better, the service and staff were friendly and made you feel comfortable. It was great time from the start. If you are ever in the area and feel like a pizza pie, enjoy and share with your friends and family. I will definitely be going back. ”

“ This is the best Chicago Pizza in CA! ! I keep coming back because I keep craving for more. I got the thin 16 inch and the large media legend Chicago pizza. I'd probably pass on the thin crust. The thin crust seemed like the same recipe as the thick crust. Brussels sprouts are really good although it had some type of Berry in it. Still loved it. I even got a frozen want to go. Directions were not the best, but I improvised. Was just as delicious as eating at the restaurant. I highly recommend. ”

“ Been wanting to try Gino's East, but it is so far for me! But on this particular day, I was actually close enough that it wasn't way out of the way. Had to order my usual deep dish order here, which includes Italian sausage, meatball, garlic, and fresh basil. Also ordered a thin crust with Italian beef and homemade spinach mozzarella sticks. The deep dish pizza was good, but not the best I have had. I liked the cornmeal crust a lot, which added some nice crunch to it. However, I think the tomato sauce overpowered the pizza to the point that it was a bit soupier than I would have expected. Still tasted great, but the pizza did not hold up well as an individual slice. Would have been hell to eat this with my hand, so I'm thankful we were fork and knifing this. The thin crust was good as it was cooked very crispy. Also liked the mozzarella sticks, the spinach definitely helped to break up the cheesiness and the fried crust held up well. Service was fine, no complaints here. There is a small parking lot in the back, but you enter from the front. You can exit through the back though. Definitely glad I finally tried Gino's East. Don't think I would go out of my way to come here since it is super far for me, but I would consider it if I was in the area. ”

“ If you are a Chicago native then you will LOVE Gino's Pizza. They have the true to heart authentic deep dish Chicago style pizza like no other. We got the custom made deep dish build your own pizza with crumbled sausage & Italian beef, which in my opinion is the same version of Bulgogi the Korean thinly sliced beef. Totally yum! We also got the Italian beef sandwich cause we couldn't get enough of the Italian beef. It hits every Chicago's savory soul making you feel like home. ”
